Lucid Dreams
Words & Music: Vincent Lee
Walking through these empty roads
With a cough-drop can, looking for spiders
The games we used to play
In our minds we travelled past the hills and valleys
To find answers
But no one is to say
With every door we open
Hoping to find treasures through our slumber
The sound of mindless banter
From an old and crippled panther
Moving in slowly like a hunter to a prey
Calling out your name
It will never be the same
Placid scenes of flowing streams
Like a child that builds sandcastles on the water
They’re just lucid dreams that fade away
Passing through the vivid landscapes
On the shoreline into yonder
Feeling every breath of wind
That makes my heart grow fonder
Fonder of you
You know it’s true
Remembering the times
We crossed the bridge and talked about the weather
How it used to be so warm
But now it’s getting so much colder
Does it even matter?
Now it’ll never rain again
Calling out your name
It will never be the same
Placid scenes of flowing streams
Like a child that builds sandcastles on the water
They’re just lucid dreams that fade away
We learn to count our blessings
As we live our lives each day
To catch the sunlight on a rainy day
You can never walk away from the destiny that
Calls upon us all to heed the call
And take the fall
And have a ball
The new day dawns
And dew is raining down the apocalyptic forest
The morning grows, the rooster crows
Then suddenly we realize that we are
Just a fading memory we call “yesterday”
Calling out your name
It will never be the same
Placid scenes of flowing streams
Like a child that builds sandcastles on the water
They’re just lucid dreams that fade away
They’re just lucid dreams that fade away
Lucid dreams that fade away
With a cough-drop can, looking for spiders
